SCIENTIFIC GRANTS FOR 2002-2003

The ASPERA Romanian Educational and Charitable Foundation, Boston, MA, will issue grants to support two fellows for 1 year working in Romania in the areas of Molecular Oncology and Molecular Medicine. Grants are designed to foster scientific excellence and promote international collaborations/exchanges. Candidates holding an M.Sc, Ph.D., M.D. or being enrolled in a graduate program will be selected by a review panel approved by the Board of Directors of the ASPERA Foundation and appointed by the Scientific Editorial Board of the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (JCMM-www.jcmm.org), ISSBN # 1582-1838, edited by the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Romania. Candidates will submit a short proposal, their CV and three letters of reference to:

The fellowships will cover a stipend of $150/month for 1 year and possibly expenses of up to $700/year for training at international scientific centers of excellence. The ASPERA Foundation will receive bi-annual scientific reports detailing progress on the projects.

RECIPIENTS OF THE ASPERA SCIENTIFIC GRANTS FOR 2002-2003

Dr. Gabriela Borsaru and Dr. Horia Bumbea have been selected by a panel appointed by the Scientific Editorial Board of the Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (JCMM-www.jcmm.org) as recipients of this year's Aspera Scientific Grants. Dr. Borsaru is Head consultant for Internal Medicine, Specialist in Clinical Haematology with the "Coltea" University Hospital, Clinic of Haematology, Bucharest, and a Ph. D. candidate in molecular biology. Dr. Bumbea is a physician specialized in hematology at the "Coltea" Clinical Hospital, Department of Hematology, and an assistant professor at the University of Medicine "Carol Davila"- Bucharest.
